Use AI to search videos for keywords or soundbites

AI makes it easy to find what you're looking for in a video. Here's how.

Say for instance, you're searching for when Trump said "Women who have an abortion should be punished". Searching for that phrase in YouTube will bring up several videos, but you don't have the time to watch the videos for the exact spot when Trump threatened women with punishment.

Use this free DemLabs app to try searching a video for yourself. The app first creates a transcript of the video. Each word in the transcript is tagged with a timestamp. Next the app searches the transcription for the keyword you entered and starts playing the video at the time where the keyword was found.

Punishing women who get abortions

Women who get abortions should receive "some form of punishment," Republican front-runner Donald Trump said on Wednesday. The comments came in a heated exchange with MSNBC's Chris Matthews during the taping of a town hall in Wisconsin, which holds its primary next week. "There has to be some form of punishment," Trump told Matthews in the exchange over whether abortion should be banned. Pressed by Matthews on the nature of that punishment, Trump responded: "I haven't determined what the punishment should be." He also suggested that women could continue to receive abortions, but at "illegal places." - YouTube

Countering disinformation in different languages

"Misinformation Swirls in Non-English Languages. Unsubstantiated rumors and outright falsehoods spread widely in immigrant communities ahead of the presidential election in 2020. That is happening again in the run-up to this year’s midterm elections, researchers say, but with an insidious twist: The social media accounts pushing misinformation are now targeting audiences in more languages on more topics and across more digital platforms..." - New York Times

Translate videos in different languages using this AI based app. This example shows a video in Spanish being searched for the word 'detenciones'.
