Nearly two weeks after major storms hit parts of northwest Indiana, thousands of people are still without power - NPR.
Power restoration efforts in places like Gary, Portage and Munster were still ongoing for more than 16,000 residents. The outage has left people scrambling for aid and trying to cope without electricity. It's also prompted critiques from civil rights advocates, who've condemned the speed of the response and called out racial disparities in how aid has been administered after natural disasters.
"Eight days after the storm rolled through, there were still almost 25,000 Gary customers without Power, in a city that is 76% Black," ACLU Indiana.
