Any mobile app like Signal requires you to provide your phone number in order to get the app. Your phone number can be used to find your location, your movements and who you are in touch with. So although the bad guys may not what you are saying, they can see who you are in touch with. MakeItPrivate does not use phone numbers or require any registration.

You can encrypt messages that you send over WhatsApp, SIGNAL or Telegram as well.
