How to make a rapid response video

Add some sizzle to your message. Make a rapid response video.

Richard Greene believes in the urgent need to curb gun violence. He wanted to create a video quickly to time with the sixth anniversary of the Parkland High School mass shooting. His call to action was to inspire people to register to vote to ban assault weapons.  https://bit.ly/IAmRegisteringToBanAssaultWeapons

This blog describes how Richard created a 50 second video in 3 hours using free apps and a little help from DemLabs.

Ban assault weapons

#IAmRegisteringToBanAssaultWeapons on Valentine's Day
6 years ago, on February 14, 2018 a troubled young man with an AR-15 broke into Parkland High School and killed 14 students and 3 teachers. If, on February 14, 2024 we commemorate this event and register everyone who is appalled by our epidemic of mass shootings . . . and they vote on November 5, 2024 . . .  WE. CAN. BAN. ASSAULT WEAPONS in America by February 14, 2025!Here's the link.  https://bit.ly/IAmRegisteringToBanAssaultWeapons

The House of Representatives PASSED "The Assault Weapons Ban" in 2022.
Today, we are JUST 9 PEOPLE short of making this bill "The Law of The Land"
If we simply elect 5 more supporters to The House
And 3 more supporters to The Senate
And 1 President to The White House who will sign the bill . . .
WE. CAN. BAN. ASSAULT. WEAPONS by Valentine's Day, 2025

How to create a rapid response video with iMovie

How to create a rapid response video

We chose a Valentine's Day theme in recognition of Feb 14th with the theme, "Register to vote to ban assault weapons in honor of someone you love".

We downloaded a GIF from GIPHY and converted it into a short video clip of a pulsating heart with the free QuickTime app.

This video was overlaid with the main points from Richard's message with the free iMovie app. The 50 second video was exported and uploaded to YouTube.

Add a soundtrack

Yes, and how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, and how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend Is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

We chose a short clip by Peter, Paul & Mary of "The Answer Is Blowing In The Wind" by Bob Dylan.

How to create a rapid response video and share it with a QR Code

Make it easy to share your message

The URL for the video on YouTube (https://youtu.be/aixzego09nQ) was converted into a QR Code with the free QR Code Generator app. This QR Code was used to create a graphic in the form a of Happy Valentine's Day wish. Scanning the QR Code launches the video. Another advantage of using a QR Code is that people do not know in advance they are being directed.
