315 shooting victims in 72 hours. The price of Republican gun fetish.

"9 killed in shooting at Texas outlet mall" - ABC News

Texas logged 4,613 firearms-related deaths in 2021, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It had the 27th-highest gun death rate of any U.S. state that year. - Washington Post

The recent spate of gun violence in Texas — including last week’s fatal shooting of five family members and last year’s mass killing of schoolchildren in Uvalde — has left residents on edge. While victims’ families and gun-control advocates have long clamored for measures they say could prevent another deadly shooting, none have yet passed. Instead, leaders in the Republican-controlled state have responded by expanding access to weapons — for instance, establishing a plan aimed at hardening school security that encourages staff members to carry guns.

Republicans ban books. Ban abortions. But refuse to do anything to ban weapons of war. Check this map for their hypocrisy.

Republican gun fetish

"NRA money backed Republican candidates. In 2012 the NRA spent $9 million in the presidential election, and in 2014 it spent $13 million. Then, in 2016, it spent over $50 million on Republican candidates, including more than $30 million on Trump’s effort to win the White House. This money was vital to Trump, since many other Republican super PACs refused to back him. The NRA spent more money on Trump than any other outside group, including the leading Trump super PAC, which spent $20.3 million.

The unfettered right to own and carry weapons has come to symbolize the Republican Party’s ideology of individual liberty. Lawmakers and activists have not been able to overcome Republican insistence on gun rights despite the mass shootings that have risen since their new emphasis on guns." - Letters From An American
