"Ron DeSantis issued reckless advice to young men to avoid taking the mRNA vaccine because of an alleged heightened risk of a heart infection (myocarditis)." - Robert Hubbell
"The report issued by DeSantis's hand-picked Surgeon General failed to include data and findings that flatly contradicted the guidance issued by DeSantis. Now that the report has been discredited, DeSantis has done nothing to reverse his prior erroneous guidance. DeSantis appointed Joseph Ladapo as Florida Surgeon General. It was a curious choice during a pandemic because Ladapo was an anti-masker who wouldn't say in his confirmation hearings if he had received a Covid vaccine."
How many people caught COVID in Florida? How many died? What hospitals cared for COVID patients in that district? Who is the political rep paid with tax payer dollars to represent the people in that district? How can you contact them to demand they stop playing politics with your healthcare?
Who pays the price for politicians playing politics with your healthcare? You do. Check this map to see how badly DeSantis bungled the COVID response.
Mapping the deadly cost of playing politics with healthcare

DeSantis urged young men not to get vaccinated
"Months after his confirmation, Ladapo produced a non-peer-reviewed report that listed no authors that came to the startling conclusion that the mRNA vaccine caused a significant increase in the risk of myocarditis in young men. DeSantis brandished the report as vindication for his evolving anti-vaccine stance and urged young men not to get vaccinated.
The report was widely criticized at the time it was published because it did not provide critical information about the details of the study. In the absence of those details, it was impossible for other scientists to evaluate the validity of the report's conclusions. Although it took a while, the Tampa Bay Times obtained the underlying information and drafts of the report before its final publication."
Potential scientific fraud
"If the information in the Tampa Bay Times is correct, it suggests potential scientific fraud that would alarm any normal governor who urged his constituents not be vaccinated against a deadly disease. But DeSantis hasn't addressed the issue and won't unless he is pressed by reporters. If it is true that Florida purposefully omitted critical information that contradicted DeSantis's political narrative and medical guidance to Floridians, someone should be conducting a criminal investigation." - Robert Hubbell

Hiding contradictory data
"Ladapo's recommendation was based on a state analysis that showed the risk of cardiac-related deaths increased significantly for some age groups after receiving a vaccine. It has been criticized by experts, including professors and epidemiologists at the University of Florida, where Ladapo is employed as a professor.
Now, draft versions of the analysis obtained by the Tampa Bay Times show that this recommendation was made despite the state having contradictory data. It showed that catching COVID-19 could increase the chances of a cardiac-related death much more than getting the vaccine. That data was included in an earlier version of the state’s analysis but was missing from the final version compiled and posted online by the Florida Department of Health. Ladapo did not reference the contradictory data in a release posted by the state." - Tampa Bay Times
Follow the facts with a map
This map created with ArcGIS Online shows the number of COVID cases and deaths by district using data from the John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. The size of the circle is proportional to the number of COVID deaths in that district. It is overlaid with the hospitals serving that district and the State House Rep for that district. Links in the map let you call your rep with one click or send him an email.

John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center
The Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center established a new standard for infectious disease tracking by publicly providing pandemic data in near real time. It began Jan. 22, 2020 as the COVID-19 Dashboard, operated by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering and the Applied Physics Laboratory. But the map of red dots quickly evolved into the global go-to hub for monitoring a public health catastrophe. By March 3, 2020, Johns Hopkins expanded the site into a comprehensive collection of raw data and independent expert analysis known as the Coronavirus Resource Center (CRC) – an enterprise that harnessed the world-renowned expertise from across Johns Hopkins University & Medicine.
