Florida Court Rules 16-Year-Old Not ‘Mature’ Enough to Get Abortion
"The court did not seem to recognize that it's also going to require plenty of maturity for a parentless teen pursuing a GED to give birth and raise a child." - Rolling Stone
The GOP packed Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade giving states more control. Republicans in Florida have passed bills denying women control over their bodies. Denying abortions even in the event of rape or incest. Denying women their freedom to choose when and with whom to have a family. Ron DeSantis has been sued by Andrew Warren, a Florida County Attorney for being fired by DeSantis because he would not prosecute women seeking abortions.
Use this power map to see how these Republican actions have led to a 16 year old being ruled as too immature to get an abortion, but mature enough to give birth and raise a child.

Florida Republicans wage war on women
In order for a minor to get an abortion in Florida, they must provide a physician with written consent from a parent or legal guardian, or request a waiver. The teenager explained her father is unable to assist her and that her “guardian is fine with what [she] wants to do”. The teen’s case is a result of the US supreme court in June overturning Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 case that gave Americans the constitutional right to an abortion. Abortion laws are now left up to states. Since the supreme court decision, Florida banned abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, without exceptions for rape or incest. - The Guardian
