'A cancer on democracy'

"Fox News spent the hour simply not informing its audience about the riot and the effort by Trump to block Biden’s election. Instead FOX promoted an obviously wrong alternate assessment of what happened at the Capitol on Jan 6. It hyped doubt about the election results, promoted debunked conspiracy theories and ironically cast the committee’s work as lies and propaganda. During footage showing rioters breaking into the Capitol, Fox switched to the camera showing the audience. When the hearing showed information that didn’t need sound, Fox more than once cut away from it. - WaPo

"The January 6th Committee's letter to cable news host Sean Hannity requesting his cooperation in helping them understand text messages he sent to Trump White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows that discuss Donald Trump's state of mind and conflicts with White House lawyers, as well as one cryptic message sent the day before January 6th that Hannity was "very worried" about the next 48 hours." - YouTube
Sean Hannity revealed as Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's 'third client'. President Donald Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen has revealed in federal court that Fox News host Sean Hannity secretly received legal advice from him in the past year – the so-called “third client” whose identity Cohen sought to keep private. Murdoch’s News Corp accused of hacking TV rivals
"There are calls for investigations in Britain and Australia into claims that Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp engaged in piracy to undermine pay-TV companies. The Australian Financial Review (AFR) claims that News Corp used a special unit called Operational Security, to sabotage its pay-TV competitors in Australia.
The AFR alleges that hackers were employed to find out the codes of smartcards issued to pay-TV customers which they then sold black-market smartcards using those codes to give viewers free access to rival pay-TV services, costing them millions of dollars. Operational Security was part of former News Corp subsidiary NDS, which was accused by the BBC of employing hackers to crack the encryption cards of BSkyB’s UK rival, ONDigital. News Corp, which owns 39% of BSkyB is under pressure over phone hacking at the News of the World ." - Channel 4

Fight the cancer. Strengthen the FCC.
“The FCC is currently deadlocked at 2-2 preventing it from fighting propaganda. President Biden nominated Gigi Sohn in 2021, a highly qualified, lifelong public advocate. Her nomination passed through the Senate Commerce Committee in March, setting up a full confirmation vote. But that’s stalled as she has been the victim of a relentless and unabashed smear campaign by Republican senators and tech companies”. – Daily Dot
“Sohn has faced an ugly and coordinated right-wing media smear campaign, which has been on full display in the Op-Ed pages of The Wall Street Journal and on Fox News, which are both owned by Rupert Murdoch.” – FreePress
TakeAway: Confirm Gigi Sohn to the FCC to curb the Rupert Murdoch's right wing propaganda channels' political character assassinations.
