Over 650,000 people have died from COVID-19 in America.
How do you explain politicians jeopardizing public safety to score political points? Judge for yourself. This interactive map lets you contrast the COVID situation in an area with the local elected official and their comments about COVID safety.
Use the slider to contrast the heat map on the left of the COVID cases in area with data from the John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. The map on the right shows who represents that congressional district. Click on the map for more details.

COVID vaccinations
“It’s about your health and whether you want protection or not. It really doesn’t impact me or anyone else,” DeSantis said.
"The number of children being hospitalized in Florida has increased more than tenfold as the number of COVID-19 cases has skyrocketed to new heights. As COVID-19 cases continue to soar in Florida the governor is coming under fire for those comments by many of those in the medical community and on the front line of the COVID-19 battle. Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried who is running against Governor Ron DeSantis for his seat in 2022 is calling on journalists to fact check all elected officials after DeSantis publicly said vaccines are merely a personal choice." - ABC-7
COVID deaths surge
"More than 650,000 Americans have died from Covid-19 as of Wednesday, another jarring milestone in a pandemic that’s claimed more than 1,000 U.S. lives per day on average — but some states have sustained especially large death tolls. Mississippi has the second-highest death rate, at 291 per 100,000 people, a toll driven partly by a recent wave of infections that’s left Mississippi with the nation’s third-highest rate of new cases per day in the last week.
Seniors account for more than 78% of the United States’ total Covid-19 deaths, according to CDC figures. Possibly as a result, some 92.4% of U.S. seniors have taken at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot, almost 20 points above the overall vaccination rate for eligible Americans." - Forbes
