Trumpland? Meet the Republicans and their corporate donors trying to overturn election results.

DemLabs blog

January 6, 2021

Meet the Republicans trying to overturn the will of the people and the companies supporting them.

"Eleven Republican senators and senators-elect said that they would vote to reject President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory ... to defy the unambiguous results of the election and indulge President Trump’s attempts to remain in power with false claims of voting fraud." - NY Times

They are politicians. But who are the companies that are funding them and the subversion of democracy?

Meet the Republicans trying to overturn the will of the people and the companies supporting them.

Background

We used OpenSecrets and Popular Information to research the companies making donations to Republicans who are pushing to overturn the election results. This was supplemented with research from the NY Times and Microsoft News.

Takeaway

"Twenty companies including AT&T, Comcast, Deloitte, Amazon, Microsoft, and Pfizer — have donated at least $16 million to the Republican lawmakers seeking to undermine the democratic process by objecting to the certification of the vote." (Popular Information)

"Our nation’s survival depends on the peaceful transfer of power and on the rule of law." (Clancy DuBos/MSN). Customers and shareholders should call out companies supporting politicians trying to subvert democracy.
