Ishtyme Robinson lost two children to police violence. She founded Every Case Matters, a grass-roots organization devoted to stopping genocide of all black, brown and lives.
How can protestors be converted to volunteers and donors?
How does a small group build support for change? Every Case Matters uses videos recorded at protests along with online petitions to collect details of potential supporters. They manage this with mostly free software.

Video campaign
The National Mothers & Families March took place in St. Paul, MN on July 12, 2020. Unicorn Riot is a decentralized, media collective that shoots videos of political rallies ad protests. They recorded a three minute video of the protests in St. Paul. This video was edited into four small one minute videos by Every Case Matters volunteers using iMovie, a free MacBook app. The videos were captioned and translated into Spanish with a DemLabs service.
Listen to Ishtyme's podcast where she "discusses to the look at police terror against black, brown and red lives as part of a holocaust against people of color. Obsessing on individual cases will never bring justice".

Converting protestors into supporters
Each video had a call to action in the form of a link to a petition that protestors could sign demanding an end to police brutality. Their petition uses Movement.Digital app which creates pre-filled email petitions that supporters can complete with two clicks. Every Case Matters collects contact details of everyone who signs the petition which is used to follow-up with them. This petition also demands an end to police brutality.
These new petitions different from traditional approaches:
1. They can be completed in seconds that do not require lots of data entry
2. Petitions are sent from individual emails rather than a single email address
3. Organizers collect email addresses of the people who sign the petition
4. The contact addresses collected belong to the organizer and not sold to other campaigns
